Travel to Mt. Fuji

tipsThe official season for climbing Mt Fuji is from Jul to Aug. Climbing outside the season is extremely dangerous without alpine climbing experience and proper equipment.

Japan rail pass covers travel to and from JR Otsuki station. You will then need to change to the Fujikyu railway and take this to Kawaguchiko station. There you can take a bus to Kawaguchiko Fifth Station. The easiest and most popular option from Tokyo is to take a direct bus from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko Fifth Station.

If you just wish to look Mt Fuji, you can enjoy beautiful views in Hakone or the Fuji five lakes area and you can even enjoy the view on the train between Odawara and Shizuoka. You will have a higher chance of seeing the incredible view in autumn and winter but it all depends on the weather conditions!
