Q. Made a mistake in the departure date, can we amend it?

I ordered rail pass yesterday and I found there was a mistake in the departure date. My UK departure date is: 22nd September, however, I wish to use the pass on 05 October. Does the departure date need to be written on the JR pass? If so, please amend.

faq There is no departure date or starting date shown on exchange order.

The Japan rail pass exchange order you will receive is valid for 3 months from the date of issued. You need to exchange to a JR pass after arrival Japan and validation the date you want to use it.

Q. Tokyo to Osaka, Tokyo to Kyoto

Do you know how long it would take using the trains from Tokyo to Osaka, and Tokyo to Kyoto?

faq From Tokyo to Shin-Osaka station, it takes 194minutes by Bullet train ‘Hikari’
(Shin-Osaka is the bullet train station in Osaka.)
From Tokyo to Kyoto, it takes 164 minutes by Bullet train ‘Hikari’

Q. How soon you can deliver the pass?

If I buy the pass tomorrow (17th Oct) how long does it take to deliver? Also I am able to collect?

faq For special delivery option with Royal Mail; If you order online before 13:00pm (Mon- Fri) we will post you the same day using Royal mail special delivery.

For collection at our Holborn office;
If you order online before 13:00pm (Mon- Fri), your pass will be ready for collection same day after 14:00pm.

Q. Can I buy more than 1 rail pass?

faqYES, you can buy more than 1 rail pass with a split in the middle (i.e. 2 x 7 day rail passes).
This is a very popular choice for people travelling to Japan for a month or more.

Q. What age is for a child JR pass?

faq Children who are age 6 through 11 as of the date on which the exchange order is issued are eligible for child pass prices.

Q. Can I use JR pass for traveling in Tokyo?

faqJapan rail pass is valid on all JR lines in Tokyo.

Q. Is it free to make a seat reservation?

faq Yes, it’s free to reserve the seats once you activate the pass in Japan.

Q. Japan rail pass covers all the major routes on the bullet trains?

Just wondering if the rail pass covers you for all the major routes on the bullet trains, and is it reasonably obvious what trains we will be able to use?

I imagine that it would probably be worthwhile having it if we intend to visit four or five places in the two weeks we are there?

faq Japan rail pass will be valid on most bullet and non-bullet JR operated trains except for Nozomi and Mizuho. In place, you can use alternative bullet trains such as Hikari, Sakura, etc.

Q. Sanyo Area pass valid on Nozomi?

I am interested in purchasing a Sanyo Area Pass through your website, but can you confirm that I can take Nozomi as well?

faq Yes, Sanyo Area Pass is valid to travel on ‘Nozomi’ and also on ‘Mizuho’.

Q. Travel within Kyoto using Japan rail pass?

faq JR doesn't operate a very large service within Kyoto (there is a service to Arashiyama),
Most people get around on foot or by using the non-JR bus or metro network.
all day bus pass for \500 is available on arrival at JR Kyoto station.
